Offerings

There will be three interest area offerings per day.  Please review the offerings with your child and sign up for the area that interests them the most on our registration page. 

​1 - Writing Dynamics  
Develop your own skills for writing sentences, paragraphs, social media, or with a poetic license. Any ability will improve reading, writing, and effective strategies for CVU. Participants will sharpen writing skills primarily through daily reading & discussion opportunities. Active participants will gain expositional and creative writing experiences.

2 - Digital Media and Design  
Explore the campus of CVU through the eyes of a digital or video camera. Use a traditional digital camera to adjust aperture & shutter speed settings while touring CVU landmarks. Learn to work a video camera to create a Youtube video that is sure to go viral. Edit your own projects and improve the quality of your digital pictures using Adobe's Photoshop. Anyone with basic computer skills will enjoy learning how to use the many different applications of this software. Counselors will provide many demonstrations and helpful hints as students work on different projects. The only mistake an Undo command won't fix is not registering early enough. . .limited computer spots available.

3 - Drawing, Painting, Sculpting  
Explore the second and third dimensions of art with your own hands.  An experienced CVU art student will present many options around pencil drawings, watercolors, clay, and other mediums.  Learn to focus on shapes and forms as you try your hand at still-life, shadow, light, and movement.  Be prepared to make choices about your own creation.  Individual or group projects are an option.  

4 - Music and Movement
Come be a triple threat while you learn basic singing stretches, act in workshops with drama techniques and learn to choreograph dance routines.  Counselors will tailor activities to Camper interests and encourage all to perform a small one act play at the end of camp.  All abilities are welcome! 

5 - S.T.E.M Team  
STEM is the fastest growing curriculum which is based on the idea of educating students in four specific disciplines — science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Develop engineering principles to design model bridges, paper airplanes & egg-drop vessels with your STEM mates. Work on your problem solving and group dynamic with real life concepts of math & physics as you test your flight pattern, hope your egg doesn't crack and perform a load test on your wooden model bridges, now that's stress.

6 - Outdoor Games & Activities
Campers embrace the challenge by choice motto when they use their brain and their body to stay active in this offering.  Counselors will lead campers through team building activities to promote problem solving skills and inclusion while offering daily choices for different outdoor summertime casual activities.  Outdoor choices may include treks around the CVU cross country trails, Frisbee golf, bocce, capture the flag, wiffleball, balloon volleyball, four square, hackey sack.  Indoor choices include Cranium, Taboo, Monopoly, backgammon, Clue, cribbage.  Counselors adjust offerings based on group interests and daily weather.
Campers will also learn about the many ways to connect to CVU through clubs, sports, and other school groups. Feel free to ask away!
